The average is time weighted by the number of hours in each month and the published period. Monthly average for the spot market. A variable electricity contract can have a different energy price because the consumption profile and purchasing model affect it.

What is included in the electricity price here?

Only the spot price on the electricity market. The prices are exclusive of VAT, energy tax, electricity network charges, the electricity dealer's surcharge and fixed charges. It is not the total cost on your electricity bill.

When are tomorrow's electricity prices displayed?

When Nord Pool has published the next day's prices. They usually become available after 13. If the publication is delayed, we will show that the prices are pending. The page will automatically try again.

Are hourly rates and quarter rates the same?

Nord Pool's day-ahead price is set per quarter since October 2025. Hourly averages in the graph are calculated as a time-weighted average of the hourly quarter values. You can toggle to see the published quarter values.

What does historically variable electricity price mean?

The history here shows the monthly average of the spot market, not a particular electricity company's variable contract price. A variable contract is also affected by how the electricity is purchased and when the customer collective uses it.

Which electrical area do I belong to?

Where does the data come from?

Today's prices and monthly data from 2024 are from North Pool. The archive 2021–2023 is based on Energy-Charts / SMARD with ECB exchange rates, conversion and monthly aggregation, under CC BY 4.0. The source is indicated next to the table. Currency conversion may produce minor differences between the sources.
